We're delighted to welcome back the hugely talented Emily Barker, who will be launching her brand new album 'Sweet Kind of Blue' at Thirty8 on Friday 19th May.
Emily will be playing a short set with her band at Cafe Thirty8 (one of only two full band appearances on her in-store tour) before joining Sound Knowledge to sign copies of the album.
'Sweet Kind of Blue' carries a more soulful, bluesier sound and was recorded in Memphis at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording Service with a crack group of Memphis session players and produced by Grammy-winner Matt Ross-Spang, who has worked with the likes of Margo Price and Jason Isbell.
Emily was last here as part of the critically-acclaimed country trio Applewood Road but has also appeared for us a number of times to support a string of well-received albums from her bands The Red Clay Halo, Vena Portae and solo, as well as her award-winning work on soundtracks for BBC's 'Wallander' and 'The Shadow Line' and the Scottish BAFTA-winning 'Hector'.
This is a FREE event but we ask that you pick up a copy of 'Sweet Kind of Blue' from SK on the night and buy a drink or two at Thirty8 (and, of course, stick around to meet Emily and the band).
the event starts at 630pm so arrive at the cafe for 6pm, look forward to seeing you there !!
